Solubilizing RNA in water

Dear Mary,

we have had the same problem. The reason for insolubility is
contamination with polysaccharides. Try using a plant-enhanced version
of the protocol that has been discussed earlier in this group (search
the archives) which utilizes a different precipitation method. In our
hands it was most important to extract thoroughly with trizol (by gently
vortexing for 3-5min) to remove polysaccharide and protein
contaminations.
