Transfection efficiency of 3T6 cell line

I have been having difficulty to increase the transfection efficiency of
this mouse embryonal cell line.  The two protocols I tried so far are
calcium phosphate precipitation and lipofectamine.  At best, I got 5
cells to light up with pGreen_lantern in a 40 X field, which I estimate
to be in the neighborhood of 0.1 %.  I welcome any suggestion.
