The Kozak sequence is the translation initiation site (ATG which codes for
Met).  Some mRNAs have a 5 prime untranslated region but at some ATG and
not necessarily the first one, translation will begin. To juge which ATG
is the "real" ATG, the one that best fits this consensus sequence -
CCPuCCATGG (Pu=purine)is probably your translation start site but not
always.
