? Should the name of RE be italics ?

No. In HTML it would be:

<i>Eco</i>R I, <i>Hin</i>d III, <i>Sac</i> I etc.

Eco in italics, R in regular style, space then Roman numeral one.

The problem with being on the cutting edge is that you occasionally get 
sliced from time to time....
