help! digitonin permeabilization??

help!
i keep reading about digitonin permeabilization and i'm not sure i understand
exactly what it does. if a protein requires a receptor to get to the nucleus,
and then you permeabilize the membrane with digitonin, does the protein "float"
on in to the nucleus? or does it still need the receptor to get in?
