DNA sterilization before transfection

Add about 5 ul of chloroform to DNA. Let stand about 10 min or longer.
Transfer aqueous phase to a rather large tube (e.g., 15-ml) with loose
cap, and let stand about 30 min or more so the chloroform evaporates.
