source for info about specific proteins

Does anyone know of a site (or sites) where you can go to get
information about specific proteins? I'm trying to design a protein
expression section for a teaching lab, and am trying to decide what
protein to use. I've got several characteristics I think will be
neccesary, but am having trouble finding proteins that meet my criteria.
