I've seen it published somewhere but can't remember where. Yeast extract
reportedly contains IPTG like substances so that you induce expression
ever so slightly. That may be enough for lethality. Of course the extra
glucose should switch the lac of even more but ...
You can supposedly use casamino acids instead of yeast extract.
The problem with being on the cutting edge is that you occasionally get
sliced from time to time....
