I know that autoclaved DNA can give good PCR bands (up to about 1 kb we tried).
I would guess that long, low heat cooking would be about as deleterious as
shorter times, extreme temperature (think equilibrium). But then again,
you only need one copy. Try going for shorter targets and see if you can
get anything coming up.
