We had one where I used to work (VA Tech CVM).  It worked OK, but we found 
that we didn't use it much.  We had planned to use it for sequencing, but the 
DNA wasn't clean enough.  We also switched to the Qiagen spin columns and 
found we got better DNA cheaper and faster.  

I guess it would depend on what you wanted it for.
