I'm assuming that it will help to reduce and denature proteins in the
lysate which could degrade your RNA prep.....I could also imagine that
it might help to disrupt proteins in the membrane and/or ribosomes which
are attached to your mRNA.
I don't think it would have any effect upon the RNA itself.
any other ideas?
