A position is available to study the mechanism by which the cytokine tumor
necrosis factor stimulates the growth of normal and neoplastic breast
epithelial cells, with focus on a candidate transcriptional regulator.
These studies will use knockout mice to study the requirement for this
candidate mediator, and will focus on protein-protein interactions which
may mediate its effect. As part of the research project, novel peptides
will be designed to disrupt the activity of this transcriptional
regulator, and their efficacy in blocking proliferation evaluated.
Training in cell and molecular biology, as well as experience in animal
work, is preferred: salary will be commensurate with experience. Submit
