'real-time PCR': which machine to buy??

I have seen one (but not used it) on a seminar in the Netherlands. They
claim you can do all the real-time pcr-methods with it, but they didn't give
a demonstration. I think for me one of the big problems is the software they
use (as so for some other Bio-Rad apparatus). The machine is made for
Windows 95 and when I asked for a higher version er Windows NT I was told
the inventers didn't plan to give this a high priority. It's a pitty I
quess, because now we are planning to buy(?) a lightcycler of Roche
diagnostics.
I am curious if somebody indeed has seen the apparatus working.
