Alternatives to Dextran Sulphate

No need to use that stuff in Southerns (or northerns, for that matter). If
you are not sure about leaving dextran sulphate out of the usual "Denhardt's
rgt containing" buffer, switch to Church & Gilbert's plain phosphate-SDS
buffer. It works very nicely (better, if you ask me) for both Southern and
northern hybridizations.
