Many moons ago I used to use those babies all the time, and never had
trouble.
Pouring a ~20% acrylamide plug helped, IIRC, but the main thing is to
make sure everything is perfectly lined up and that the bottom is jammed
into the rubber stop, but not too tightly . . .
