ASFIK, the cost of the kit is primarily due to their NH-primer adaptors.
The Adv. pol mix does not add significantly to the cost and does work very
reproducibly. You can definitely substitute with your choice of a taq-pfu
cocktail, but standardizing the reactions may prove more expensive since
they only supply the adaptors in limited quantities.
