When working with degenerate primers,,, the rule of thumb is do not
optimize too much....

Primers are so cheap it is better to vary various permutations of
possible primer sets.    So be prepared to try lots of primer sets.

Always run touchdown.
Try Failsafe system (Epicenter tech)with 12 sets of buffers etc., if you
can afford it.
