sscp capillary sequencer?

We are planning to do SSCP on some differentially expressed bands and
wanter to do it on the ABI 3100 capillary sequencer.  I know that I will
not be able to elute the bands but we figure this will give us a good
idea on whether our bands are homogeneous or not.  Does anyone know if
this works.  Also what is the upper size limit of SSCP? I have found one
paper that does it on 600bp band but my gel resolves to 1.2 Kb.
