Growth curves

Does anybody have experience in doing growth curves with the cell lines T47D, MCF7 and MDA-MB-231? I have been trying to treat these with a drug and then doing the assay with MTT. However the results have been inconsistent. Can you tell me a good way to plate out equal number of cells in each well of a 24 plate? I think the problem might lie there..
