TaqMan Probes

I have just spoken to an Applied Biosystems salesperson who told me that the
only company who are licensed to sell TaqMan probes is themselves. However,
many comapnies offer dual-labelled probes which are identical (& cheaper).
What is the legal position on the use of these unlicensed probes?  Would their
use contravene UK law?Please reply to methods at net.bio.net
