mRNA transcription rates

Hello! I am trying to figure out what a typical transcription rate (or range of rates) would be for mRNA. Gotta et al. (1991) found rRNA rates to be around 42 bp per second in E. coli using electron microscopy. This information seems more difficult to find for mRNA. Ideally, I would like to understand this in the context of plants, but I am not picky at this point. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
