rna from woody plant tissues

Does anybody have reccomendations for preparing RNA from woody plant
tissues. I'd be especially interested in anyone who's successfully
modified a triazol protocol. I've been able to get RNA, but at quite low
yields (e.g. 30 ug per gram of tissue).

One thought is that I just really need to use a lot of tissue, because that
actual amount of "cell contents" is relatively small compared to the amount
of "junk".

Thanks for any input.
