usually CLEAN DNA is stable in TE at 4°C. However, we use the following conditions:
clean plasmid DNA, long term storage: frozen in TE (-20°C)
clean plasmid DNA, short term: in TE at 4°C
crude miniprep plasmid DNA: frozen in TE (-20°C), also for short term storage.
long DNA (genomic DNA, lambda DNA): in TE at 4°C (to avoid shearing
forces during freezing/thawing)
