PCR 5kb Rickettsia DNA?

5 Kb is not all the big nowadays (no offense intended) so you may not need
the Expand kit. I don't know about Rickettsia DNA though, but I do know
some people that do.
One thing we've found with long PCR is that primer size is everything. We
do 10-20kb and use 35mers to get good amplification on bacterial DNA.

e-mail me directly (zje8 at cdc.gov) and I'll get you in touch with our
rickettsia people.
