lacIZ system for screening suppressors?

Hello All,

I would like to assess the suppressor activity of a gene I'm working with.
Literature from the 80's refers to a neat screen using panel of frameshifted 
and amber/ochre/opal mutants of lacI.
Does anyone still have and/or use this lacIZ system for screening suppressors?
Or is there a new fangled lux/luc/gfp system for doing the same thing?

Any advice and/or strains would be appreciated,
