single strand dna migration

Dear all, 

is there any way to "predict" migration behavior of ss dna on agarose gels?
we try to produce ss dna by s1 nuclease action on pcr product and get a faint 
band approx double (3.5kb) the size of the pcr product (1.8 kb). we see both 
bands in the same lane.
