Historians believe that in newspost <a93l0g$6fa$1 at news.iucc.ac.il> on
Thu, 11 Apr 2002, Barak Akabayov <barak.akabayov at weizmann.ac.il> penned
the following literary masterpiece:
>I need help in finding an efficient method (chemical or enzymatic based) to
>label oligonucleotides in their 5' end with biotin.
>in order to immobilize to a surface (coated with streptavidin).

Usually done during synthesis of the oligo by using a biotin
phosphoramidite. You can't just add it to an already synthesised oligo
as the oligo would need to be derivatised at the 5' end in order to
post-label with biotin.

The problem with being on the cutting edge is that you occasionally get
sliced from time to time....
