G418 selection in HEK293 cells.

1) are you sure the cells are HEK-293 and not HEK-293T ?
Because, if they are 293T then they are already resistant to G418.

2) you can use upto 1 mg/ml of G418 on original 293 cells, I think I used
800 ug/ml. It is a mild antibiotic.

3) it takes 1 week to see results of (incomplete) selection with G418. Cells
may not be confluent (they need to divide few times before transiently
expressed protein (neo) is diluted enough).
