fluorescence emission spectra

Hi!
I've a problem . From theory I know that emission spectra are
typically
indipendent of excitation wavelenght.
I've done emission spectra of 1-aminoanthracene at pH 7 in phosphate
buffer (0.1% EtOH) at 2 different excitation wavelenght and I found 2
different spectra with different maximum wavelenghts. Why? Can it be
related to the fact that there can be 2 different states of this
fluorophore?

Thanks in advance

Mariella
