IEF and glycoproteins staining

Have you tried PAS (periodic acid Schiff)-staining already? For SDS-PAGE
a method is described in Meth. Enzymol. 28 (1972) 54-63, after thorough
fixing and washing it should also work with IEF gels. PAS is specific
for glycoprotein, if you want all proteins, silver or Coomassie
Brilliant blue are also possible.
