how to quantify radioactivity?

There are two ways of doing the quantitation.

1. Cut the TLC spot and either dry count or put in liquid scintillation
counter and count.
2. Second would be to spot serial dilutions of the experimental and
controls. Determine the lowest dilution at which the controls
dissappear and the lowest dilution at which the experimental disappear
and back calculate.

Serial dilutions 1-1/2-1/4-1/8-1/16-1/32-1/64 and so on. If the
control spot disappears at 1/64 and the experimental disappears at 1/16
then the experimental is 1/4 the that of the control. This is not
exact in terms of counts but it is very reliable and requires little
external instrumenation
