"The Scientist" mag -- ELVIS essay

I don't want to take the time to write a real message to _The Scientist_,
but in the 19Jan04 issue there's an essay in the back about looking for
ELVIS in BLAST back in 1992. For the record, the ELVIS motif was first
mentioned in Science (I think it was Stevens, PW (1991) Science 254:357-8,
but I don't have ready access to the older issues). The writer found
several occurrences of ELVIS but none of, say, HAYDN. I used it with my
students in discussion section, calculating pI, drawing the structure,
learning the aa abbreviations. Heh, it turned out that there was a
mistake in the letter too -- he had written it out as glu-lys-val-ile-ser.
oops.
