One relatively straightforward way of covalently binding proteins to glass
is to use a mercaptosilane (e.g., mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane) and a
maleimide-NHS crosslinker, or to use an epoxysilane (e.g., glycidoxypropyl
trimethoxysilane) to functionalize the glass surface. Both allow you to
react with primary amines.
