Preflashing

Dear Fitzwater,

  I read your advice regarding preflashing film on the internet. You mention that an alternative method to preflashing is to cover the flash unit of the camera with an orange gel filter and a neutral density filter.  Do I need a ND filter with very high ND value (eg. 200) or one with a low ND value (eg. 8) will suffice? I await your reply. Thanks & have a nice day.
