Making your own 100 bp ladder

There is a company (www.see-gene.com) that makes a kit for that
purpose.  I tried it once and it worked fine.  You amplify fragments
and pool them to make a 100bp ladder or pretty much any kind of ladder
you want.  I don't remember how much it cost, but it was enough
reagents to make lots and lots of ladder, and they give you the primer
sequences so if you make glycerol stocks of the plasmid templates you'd
be set for life.  All you'd have to do is buy new primer stocks
occasionally from your favorite vendor.
