can i use EDTA instead of TEMED for SDS PAGE ?

 so was I ....  biochem 101.... any book including Lehninger, Stryer, Voet
and Voet, give a detailed and lucid explanation.... sometimes I guess though
folks love to re-invent the wheel....or begin where life began, with EDTA or
with Oparin's coacervates :), and perhaps call it a different name "Blobs"?
(kidding) ...
