In our TC and bacterial incubators we use a water pan on the incubator
floor for humidity; we add 1% cupric sulfate to the water to prevent
microbial growth and have had zero problems.
Growth of Neisseria spp. and other gram negatives seems unaffected (on
plates, not in the water tray ;-)
