Hey,

Do you mean real Spirulina or Spirulina platensis, which is in fact
Arthrospira ? I suppose the latter, since that is used as health food
tablets and is commercially produced and sold.
Anyhow, the following articles deal with the industrial production of
Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis, and probably also contains interesting
references:

Ciferri, O., Tiboni, O. 1985. The biochemistry and industrial potential
of Spirulina. Ann. Rev. Microbiol. 39, 503-526.

Richmond, A. 1992. Mass culture of cyanobacteria. In Photosynthetic
Prokaryotes (Mann, N. H., Carr, N. G., eds.). Plenum Press, New York, pp.
181-210.

Kerby, N. W., Rowell, P. 1992. Potential and commercial applications for
photosynthetic prokaryotes. In Photosynthetic Prokaryotes (Mann, N. H.,
Carr, N. G., eds.). Plenum Press, New York, pp. 233-265.

Hope this helps,
