H. pylori is a bacterium related to Campylobacter.  It appears to be involved
in producing many cases of gastritis and peptid/duodenal ulcers.  
Estimates vary from 50-80% of cases.  Usually, if an ulcer is due to H. 
pylori, it can be CURED with one or two courses of antibiotics along with 
standard ulcer medications (Tagamet, Zantac, etc.).
