Tim Ikeda Writes:

"1) Is the conversion factor of 500 Klett units/1.0 absorbance units
correct?

2) Shouldn't a paper which reports bacterial cell density in Klett
units also mention the wavelength used for the measurement or is
there a standard "Klett" wavelength?"

Yes, you have to specify the filter used with the Klett and the wavelength you
are taking your O.D. readings at: I've experimentally determined the following
values: (Don't be surprised if you see a non-linear relationship.)

OPTICAL DENSITY VS. KLETT

    Klett O.D.
 Green Filter 550 nm
    240 2.0
    220 1.85
    195 1.75
    182 1.65
    155 1.48
    133 1.30
    112 1.10
    85 0.89
    55 0.60
    30 0.34
    16 0.165
