Enumeration of Non-culturable bacteria using CTC ???????

Well, but I really met this stain (I mean CTC) firtsly here. So I do not 
have any idea about nature of CTC. Is it use in light microscopy or 
fluorescence? Which compounds it will stain in cell (protein DNA etc)?
And the most interestin thing can I use CTC in some way to distinguish 
active cells from dormant?
