Microbial Invest. of Commercial Fish feeds

I am investigating the microbial flora of commercial fish pellets.  Any 
information pertaining to the preparation of samples for enumeration (total 
and viable counts) and biomass estimates would be greatly appreciated.  The 
feed is in small (1cm) biscuit form and problems have been encountered 
distributing the microbes for evaluation.  Help me please!
