 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This seminar will enable microbiologists working in intermediate and
smaller sized laboratories to meet CLIA, OSHA and other accrediting
and regulatory agency requirements at minimum costs. The latest
techniques in microbiology that are applicable to small and
intermediate sized community hospitals will be discussed. The workshop
is particularly useful to those being cross trained in microbiology to
meet the demands of managed care and hospital mergers. Dr. Wegner
shows you ways to provide quality, patient oriented microbiology
economically, reduce cost and turn around time, improve infection
control, and strengthen QC and QA programs. In addition, a procedure
manual*, containing accreditation standard identification procedures,
QC and QA procedures and charts will be provided to all participants.

 COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
 1) List and discuss QC and QA programs
     applicable to the microbiology laboratory.
 2) Select microbiology testing techniques that
     provide accurate and rapid results.
 3) Identify results that warrant immediate
     physician notification.
 4) Outline strategies to increase revenue and
     reduce costs.
