Looking for a nitrate minus bacterium

We have some plasmid cured derivatives of Rhizobium which
are unable to grow on nitrate as a nitrogen source. On petri
dishes they seem to scavenge nitrogen from somewhere, but in
broth (eg. minimal salts plus glucose) they won't grow on
nitrate at all, but will use ammonium.

Other mutants eg. ntrC or ntrA of E.coli or other similar
organisms may also be suitable.
