A good starting place is the brief review in Trends in Microbiology
vol.1, #5 (August 1995).  The title is "Conservation of Secretion Pathways
for pathogenicity....."  It reviews the various secertion systems 
found in bacteria, with emphasis on type III.  This should get you
started.
