Malignant Hypertermia

In the near future a friend of mine will be admitted into the hospital
to undergo a skeletal muscle biopsy. There is a long history of
Malignant Hyperthermia in her family which could be fatal if doctors are
not aware of her conditon. My concern is regarding the long list of
restricted foods and activities that she must avoided for four weeks
prior to her hospital admission. These include: no unusal exercise, no
medication (other than those required for daily health reasons), no
consumtion of alchol, smoking of cigarettes, no drugs containing vitamin
E, no caffine, asprin or asprin-containing drugs, calcium, cortisone or
drugs related to cortisone, calcium channel blockers, dantrolene, nasal
decongestants of broncho dilators. As well, she can not drink coffee,
tea, Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola or consume any chocolate. However, she is
allowed to drink decaffeinated coffee and tea and caffieine-free soft
drinks. I would really appreciate any input on the reasons behind this.
How will consuming these products effect the outcome of her muscle
biopsy?
