When a tooth gets infected following exposure of the pulp via a cavity,
the infecting bacteria are usually strict anaerobes, including,
Bacteroides, Fusobacterium, Porphyromonas, Prevotella, and several
others.

The cheapest incubator for just growing bacteria is a shoebox put near
a source of warmth such as the back of a refrigerator or near a
radiator. More elaborate incubators can be devised with a box and a
small (very small) light bulb. It is important that the temperature
not get higher than 37 or 38 C.
