Electroporation species

I'm a university student, embarking on a theoretical  (will never actually be 
attempted) research proposal for a course in Biotechnology.

I want to enhance the qualities of Lactobaccillus bulgaricus through gene 
manipulation.  Is there any reason to think that electroporation will not work 
in this species...  There is one report of electroporation success with 
Lactobaccillus sake...
