HETERODUPLEX FORMATION

Greetings!
Can anyone provide me a background or reference on HETERODUPLEX
FORMATION?. I am going to use this principle as DNA-based assay for
detecting mutations on the beta subunit of the rna polymerase of M.tb
in clinical isolates.
Any assistance/advice is highly appreciated!
