Dear All
Phenols which can be present in waste water introduced from different
processes such as pulp and paper mills, petrochemicals and many other
sources are dangerous to try to treat them by chlorination. This may
be of formation of chlorophenolic compounds which are reported to be
also carcinogenic. Indeed, H2O2 and O3 is used recently for
sterilization and destruction (to great extent, mineralization) of
many organic beside other source like UV and electrochemical disposal
of treatment.
To put it in other way, it is better to make a good analysis before
making treatment (sterilization, or chemical destruction).
Thank you.
Adel
